Homestead Offerings

Our off-grid homestead lifestyle has much to offer and we are excited to share the abundance of our land and the fruits of our labor. Being that we are first generation homesteaders, we have learned how to do most things ourselves: how to grow and store our food, wildcraft mushrooms, manage our forest, craft herbal products, produce our own electricity, develop our own water system, maintain our internal roads, and build our house.

Learn to Grow Food, Medicine, & Habitat

With food costs increasing across the board from groceries to eating out, it is becoming ever more important to decrease our expenditures. Growing our own food is a forgotten skill that can help to not only decrease our food bills, but can enrich our lives in many other ways.

Welcome to the farmacy

The current mindset to eat processed foods for convenience is causing an abundance of health issues in our culture. In this class, I will also share my recipes for the food and herbs that grow here. I share my knowledge of nutritional content and medicinal properties of the plants, and how I use food as medicine.

Organic Produce

Farm to Family is a CCOF certified organic farm. Produce is seasonally available to order on-line, then a scheduled pick-up on-site.

Custom produce crops are available for chefs or individuals to order. Talk with Cathy to schedule your custom produce crop.

Firewood

We deliver seasoned madrone, Douglas Fir, oak, and mixed cord-firewood for delivery to Willits homes. As we manage our forests for wildfire prevention, we generate firewood for the Willits community to warm their homes.

Herbal Products

Cathy has been hand-crafting customized, family herbal products for 30 years. Check out what’s available seasonally.

Camping

Come visit for a few days and stargaze at our “Cannabis Friendly Tent Camping” that we host through Hipcamp. We have two campsites: The pond site is a private spot in the middle of 160 acres. There are two picnic tables, a spigot to the mountain spring water, an outhouse, and a bi-level site for a tent. There is plenty of room to spread out here, with 12 campers welcome to stay as a group. The property is abundant with wildlife and with such low impact camping, visitors are able to witness the seasonal cycles and rhythms of the land. The trail map guides you around the property with sites of interest marked out. The dry site is intended for overnight stays, but some campers enjoy the site for multi-day camping.

Online Science & Math Tutoring

You are smart. You are blessed. You can do anything!

Cathy holds a California Teaching Credential for all grade levels, K-12, in all science subjects and mathematics. Bringing over 20 years experience teaching and writing curriculum for public schools, private schools, homeschools, live-stream teaching, and tutoring; Cathy offers online, tutoring and homeschooling services.

Looking for a way to succeed in the broken education system? Needing some extra time to ask questions and get answers? Feeling left behind? It’s time for us to connect and take the time needed to discover yourself as a learner.

Currently, both brick and mortar and online classrooms, are overcrowded, calendar paced, moving from topic to topic without students grasping all concepts. Essentially leaving those behind who need a bit more time. Each piece that a student doesn’t fully understand, accumulates to become an overwhelming challenge as the class forges forward with tests driven time constraints. Private tutoring can help students get back on learning rather than testing.

Cathy tutors students for mastery learning, not for test taking. Learning is a lifelong skill that can be applied to all interests from hobbies to jobs to lifestyles. Cathy encourages to discover who they are as learners, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and to develop a learning strategy.

Off-Grid Homestead Tour

Bill graciously takes you on a tour of the off-grid part of our homestead. Tour the infrastructure that makes off-grid living possible.

Talk with the man who built the homestead from the ground up. Every system, including solar, water, roads, house, outbuildings, greenhouse, chicken coop, and pond was created and installed by Bill. Come tour and learn how to do it yourself, so you too, don’t rely on the grid for your needs.
