Tour the homestead
Farm to Family’s Off-Grid Homestead Tour provides a window for interested homesteaders to learn about the process we went through to establish our off-grid homestead.
New to homesteading and need some guidance?
Feeling overwhelmed about off-grid living? This tour can help to ease some of that anxiety. Bill is great at explaining how he accomplished the task of creating our infrastructure himself, from concept to installation, construction, expansion, and maintainance.
Tour the off-grid infrastructure
Starting with the solar system, Bill takes you step-by-step from the solar array to the batteries, inverter, and back-up generator. Next, we discuss the house, in-floor heating and septic. Then, the tour moves to the water system located at the highest point on the property. Bill discusses the best equipment to have for road installation and maintenance, and we end at the garden where we grow food and medicine.
Tour the garden
In the garden, we focus on soil and garden habitat to grow nutrient dense, organic food. We demonstrate how to use site sourced resources to nourish our soil. Finally, Cathy discusses how we preserve food, and craft herbal health care products from the plants we grow and wildcraft from the forest.
