Open Scheduling That Works for You
In order to make the garden accessible to as many students as possible, I am offering an open schedule. As a result, students are free to schedule 1-2 3hr days/week that work for their schedule, that’s up to 8 sessions in 4 weeks. You’ll come and learn gardening skills by doing whatever is happening on the days you’re here.
You Get to Grow food At Home & Harvest a Weekly Garden Box
Garden with Cathy doesn’t stop in Farm to Family’s garden. For instance, students are welcome to take seedlings home and some site sourced resources home to their gardens. While able to bring seedlings and resources home to your space, you can grow your own garden in tandem with the class. However, you don’t have to have your own garden to eat from a garden. Everybody enrolled in the class gets to harvest a box of produce/herbs from the garden weekly.
Connect With the Communities
Gardening is a way to connect with the community of plants and animals that inhabit and migrate through your space. Learn what is happening in the garden through observation and discover how take cues from the soil, plants and animals in your microbiome.
The open schedule allows students the opportunity for sessions to overlap. This way, you can plan sessions with your friends and make new friends when your schedules overlap.
Not local? No worries. Pop a tent on the weekends. We’ll all be forging new relationships within our community!
Go With the Flow
The garden is a place to recharge energetically and a place for creative inspiration. I love to explore the flow of student inspired direction, because it creates abundance. Someone have an idea, or curiosity around how to make herbal products?? I’ll go with the flow, and teach you how to do it. Want to share/exchange recipes? We’ll set up an on-site potluck, prepare a meal together, and to learn how to eat what we harvest. Want to learn how to forage herbs, berries, and mushrooms from the forest? We’ll do it in the right season. Above all, this is not a rigid course, and everybody’s input is welcome.
The Cost and Timeframe
$160/month gets you 1-2 sessions/week, depending on what works for you. While sessions are 3+ hrs each and run from May 1 through November 17, they are weather dependent.
Conveniently, your month starts upon your first session in the garden. Therefore, if you start on May 15th, your month of opportunity lasts until June 15th. Book your first session on the calendar in the cart. Then, plan your schedule with Cathy personally once enrolled.
